Icebreaker Heli Tour

In late August, Mint Tours together with Icebreaker, held a national retail competition with the winners coming on an exclusive heli-ski tour to Mt Potts.
Three lucky people, two from W.A. and one from the ACT, joined myself and other Icebreaker crew in having an amazing powder day at Helipark.
After a rather large night at the lodge bar, we then checked out a local merino station to find out where the incredible natural fibre comes from! Thanks to everyone how helped out this year, and looking forward to next season's collaboration!

Over 170cms at Mt Hutt over the last 12 days!

Great early season snow!!

Cold temperatures and light snowfalls overnight
and on & off today (Wednesday April 8) has delivered
early snow to NZSki’s ski areas Coronet
Peak, Mt Hutt and The Remarkables.
Canterbury’s Mt Hutt has received 20 cm of snow
with some areas on the access road receiving
over half a metre.

The Remarkable's Stash

Already a feature at overseas resorts such as, Northstar and Avoriaz, The Stash is an organic style of terrain park which takes advantage of the amazing natural terrain of Serpentine and Galleries bowls at The Remarkables.

Japan snowmobiling

Mint Tours have been running Japan trips for two seasons now, but one of our latest options is a day of backcountry snowmobiling with the boys from NSA in Niseko. I gotta tell ya this is an amazing day out amongst the beautiful forests of Japan, even though the roaring sound of the two stroke sleds kind of breaks the serenity! Here's a few pics of the guys.

Mt Potts cat-skiing

An exclusive to Mint Tours, we are the only Australian operator to team up with Mt Potts Snowcat.

Guests are heli-lifted up to Mt Potts base where they are met by the patrol team.

Then after 10-12 powder runs provided by the only cat-skiing in New Zealand, the evening is spent relaxing in one the best mountain lodges around with a three course gourmet dinner.

Southern Alps Sleds

This season Mint has teamed up with the guys from SAS, to offer one of the most unique backcountry tours in New Zealand. Here's the lowdown...

Upon arriving at Kingston, 40 min's from Queenstown at the south end of
Lake Wakatipu, you'll be met by a Nokomai Helicopter. Here SAS will pick you up and chopper you to the Southern end of the Remarkable's Range.

Take your first run to base where experienced guides will be waiting to act as your personal chairlift for the day.

Enjoy heli-ski quality lines and extreme beauty of the Hector Mountains, all located deep in the Southern Alps.

Add this SAS backcountry option to our Back to Basics Queenstown package or the Wanaka Progression tour.

Mint Tours Japan

Ok Pizzey (from Central Board Co.)and the boys just got back from Niseko Japan, and by all reports they really left an impression! Here's a shot of them enjoying one of the many blue bird days at Niseko/Hirafu.

Next winter, Mint will be running Japan Powder Tours into Niseko which as most would know, is the powder capital of the world! We also have a sick deal going with a local sled operation that can take your group into the backcountry and let you cut-loose on their 750cc snow mobiles! Korea World Cup

Last month I was given the opportunity to Judge at the Korean leg of the World Cup Halfpipe.

The contest was held at Sungwoo about an hour and a half east of Seoul. Although we had perfect weather for the entire week, the event unfortunately was pretty low-key with only 18 riders in total competing. However, our own Andrew Burton claimed 3rd in the pipe with some of the biggest and most tech runs of the day. Cab inverted 900's damn boy!

For me it was a great chance to get some overdue runs in and basically blow away the cobwebs. Here are some nice scenery shots, as well as a few typical "city shots". All and all, a great experience!
